You Wouldn't Dare (Khaos Trilogy Book 1), стр. 51
I listened closely, my hand over his heart, reminding him through my gentle touch that the past was in the past and he was free with me, safe with me. I would never intentionally hurt him, and I would do anything to ensure that he stayed protected and safe with me.
“After that night, after what they did to me, it broke me. I spent weeks curled up, back in the shell I spent most of my life in. There wasn’t a part of my body that didn’t hurt for days after. I would push my hands against my ears, trying to drown out the laughter resounding through my head. Members of the pack would stop by and taunt me, mocking my pain. If they were feeling especially brave, they would drag me to their room and abuse me once more. It was revenge, they said. Drake threw his weight around, spent too much of his time shirking his responsibilities and expecting everyone else to pick up the slack. They would role play sometimes, calling me Drake as they raped me.
“They all thought it was funny as they called my pleas for mercy pathetic, that I was a worthless dog incapable of being Alpha. That must have struck a chord with Drake, as he never again attempted to train me for the day I would replace him. What respect would his pack get knowing that their ruler was a used whore? Someone who had been degraded and abused in the worst possible way. I was thrown out less than a month later. Drake had me drugged with Wolfsbane, boarded into his private jet, and dumped in a remote part of the world. I have no idea what happened to Ryssa whilst I was away, or whether Drake really gave her over to Louisa’s father. She never came to me. I had stupidly thought we were in it together, that even after all that had happened that night, she would come back to me and together we would find a way out of that place. I would have done anything to protect her. She had given me the first act of kindness I had ever experienced, and it was only too late that I realised that she did it for her own selfish gains. She felt no sympathy for me, she just realised quicker than the others I had potential to be something great and sought to take advantage of that.”
Bitterness crept into his tone as he spoke of Ryssa, and my heart leapt as he became choked. I leaned forward and placed a kiss on his forehead, and he smiled softly at me, clearing his throat before he continued.
“I spent some time in other packs, but they would inevitably throw me out when news travelled about my past. I decided to go alone and it was then I came across Morgan’s father. He had recently been cast out from his pack, and he was slowly going insane and feral. I sensed that he wasn’t completely lost, that he hadn’t given in to being a rogue and there was still hope for him. So, we joined forces. He has said since that he recognised the power in me that day, despite my frail appearance. Even though I was much younger than him, he submitted to me, accepting me as his Alpha. We spent years recruiting anyone who proved they were strong enough, eventually settling down here. He contacted his old pack, bringing his mate and family to join us. His mate was a blessing, convincing all her she-wolf friends to join. She had told them about the way we ran the pack, the respect that was given to all members here. Seemingly, this isn’t the way a normal pack is run, and most of the wolves she contacted jumped at the chance of a better life, of being treated based on their actions and not the rank they were born into. It’s because of the actions of his parents I chose Morgan as my Beta. It would honour his father, who was too old to take on the role himself, and prove to his mother that I appreciated everything she did to help this pack grow. There are a lot of bad things said about me, but the thing that most people find hard to understand is that every member of this pack is here because they want to be, not because they have been forced. The door is always open if ever they decide to leave and make a life for themselves elsewhere.”
“I know, Khaos. It’s easy to see how much they care for you and you for them. I’m sorry I ever listened to the rumours.”
“Don’t fool yourself, little one. I told you, there’s truth in even the wildest tales. I have murdered in cold blood; I’ve tortured and maimed. I killed Drake, and I killed Ryssa, with no regrets. I have slaughtered packs. But, other than Ryssa, I’ve never once laid a hand on a female, and I would protect a child with my life. I--”
I pressed my lips to his to silence him. He didn’t need to prove anything else to me. His hand lazily circled my nipple, bringing a rush of heat through my body. He tried to push his leg between mine, to open me up for him, but I rejected his advances, sliding myself down his body to lick at the tip of his rock-hard erection. I firmly grabbed his shaft, moaning in excitement when I saw that I was nowhere near to my fingers meeting around him, craving the day I would have this thick cock inside me. I opened my mouth, ready to take him all in, when he suddenly shot to his feet, leaving me kneeling before him.
“Khaos?”
“It was a nice thought, but it’s getting late.” He turned his back
