All In (Keep Breathing Book 2), стр. 63
"You’re ignoring his calls now?"
“He's been calling for the last couple of hours and I’ve been pushing his calls to voicemail. He’s not calling for anything work related, so I'm not in the mood to deal with him."
"How do you know?"
"Because my mom and dad are doing this making amends thing and I'm sure he's making his rounds."
Holly told me everything he said to her, but I haven’t personally heard it from him. It doesn't sit right with me that he went to her with all that. I'm not sure if his goal was to win her over to get to me, but in the end, there's a lot of broken ground between us that I'm not sure can get paved so we can walk along together again.
"So you don't want to hear it from him?"
"No, because he should have always had my back."
Jax claps my shoulder. "Glad to hear you finally say that." Jax will never be my brother's fan. The two have bumped heads since they met. "I'm going to head out. Did you need anything else before I go?"
"See if you can talk to Wallace on Davis’ security team. To look at the footage of the night of his wife’s kidnapping again. Maybe they missed something. Compare logs. Go back through Edelman’s spending as well.”
"Alright." He rubs his chin. “I’m sure we’ll find Genevieve Davis. One way or another.” He opens up my office door. “I’ll check in with you later man.” He heads out and Mary walks back in.
“Mr. Morgan. Your brother has asked you to call him back at your earliest convenience.”
I roll my eyes and pull off my tie. I won’t be calling him. “Thanks, Mary. Could you do me a favor and go down to Research and see if they have my reports ready.”
“Sure thing, boss. Oh, I also came in to tell you, I managed to reserve a table for you and Ms. Jenkins at the Willow tonight at six-thirty. The corner booth like you wanted.”
“Shit, I totally forgot about that.” I flop into my office chair and lean back. I can’t believe I let it slip my mind. I’ve been planning a night out with Holly for a week, just me and her. The thing is I forgot to have someone watch Matty.
“Do you need me to reschedule?”
“No, no. I got it. Thanks, Mary. I’d be lost without you.”
“I’m well aware.” She smirks. “I’ll go grab your reports.”
I pull out my cell and notice the half a dozen miss calls from my brother. There are no texts or voicemails, so whatever he wants can’t be that dire other than wanting to “connect.” I clear out my call log and do a quick search for my girlfriend’s best friend. Hoping she’ll be able to help me out for this evening last minute.
“Hello?” Terry answers with uncertainty after the second ring.
"Terry?"
"Yeah? Who is this?"
"It's Liam."
"Liam? How did you get my number?"
"Seriously?"
"Right. Never mind. What can I do for you, Liam?"
She's everywhere.
Little things of hers linger all around my house: Her coconut shampoo and strawberry body wash in my shower, her hairbrush, with hundreds of her hairs weaved into the bristles, sits the nightstand, and a few of her clothes now hang in my closet. She's slowly making this place her home and she doesn't even know it.
I step out of my bedroom and go on the hunt to find my girl. I find her leaning over the couch, wearing that same red dress she wore the night I saw her outside the bar. She’s playing with the TV remote as Matty barks orders at her on what to watch.
I grab her waist and pull her back into my chest. The remote goes bouncing to the cushions. “Do you have any idea what you do to me when you wear red?" I whisper into her ear.
“Actually, I don’t.” She purrs as she rubs her ass into my growing erection. My little tease.
“Maybe we should skip dinner, so I can show you.”
“I don’t think so. We haven’t had a real chance to be alone. You might find out you don’t even like me.” She smirks.
“I like you plenty, Red.” My lips trace behind her ear. In fact, I’m in love with you, I say wordlessly as she moans against my touch.
"Are you two leaving or are you going to stand there making eyes at each other all night?” Terry leans against the wall, looking between us.
“We’re going.”
Sam: Something fishy came up with one of Ginny Davis’ co-workers we might have missed. So Jax and I are doing some deep hacking. Thought you should know.
"This is nice. Being able to go out just me and you." Holly leans her head on my shoulder as I reply to a message from Sam. We’re nestled into the corner booth, and the atmosphere is perfect. There’s candlelight, classical music plays softly from the speakers above us, and my goddess of a girlfriend, who is draped in the red dress I love which I want nothing more than to take off, is beside me making eyes at me, telling me she wants the same. But somehow work has captured my attention.
Fucking work.
I don't mean to be rude, but this whole thing with Davis is driving everyone to the brink of insanity.
"It is, isn't it,” I say after a beat, hitting send on my message.
“You look stressed,” Holly asks, rubbing my chest. "Is everything okay?"
“Just work shit.” I shove my phone back into my coat pocket. “Sorry about that.”
“It's alright. You're a busy man.”
“I am, but when do I ever take calls during dinner?"
“It's not a big
