You Wouldn't Dare (Khaos Trilogy Book 1), стр. 12
“She’s not going anywhere, and certainly not with you,” he bit out. Khaos laughed at him, eyeing him up from head to toe and shook his head, giving a soft chuckle before turning back in my direction as he replied: “Go on, I’ll bite. Why wouldn’t my mate be leaving with me? Who are you to stop her?”
“I’m her lover,” he hissed back.
Shit.
Fuck.
Khaos’ face turned murderous. He slowly turned around and approached Logan.
“Repeat that,” he demanded in a low voice. I saw Logan stumble, swallowing down the lump in his throat.
“I said--” he didn’t get to finish. Khaos snatched his throat in his hand, squeezing tightly until Logan’s face turned purple.
“Violet,” he bit out, not looking in my direction. “You leave with me now and I promise everyone who is currently unharmed will stay that way. You’ll forget this pack and everyone in it and make a new life with me.”
“No!” I shouted back, ignoring the stab of pain that struck me. “Fuck you and fuck your entire pack. I’m going nowhere!” Khaos dug his claws into Logan’s neck, beads of blood beginning to appear under his nails. He raised his other hand and clicked his fingers, soldiers immediately responding to the demand. My parents were seized, and knives held to their throats.
“If you don’t come with me willingly in the next thirty seconds, I will kill everyone you have ever loved and force you to watch as they take their last, painful breath - starting with lover boy here. If I have to force you into this decision, you will regret it. As soon as we get to my pack, you’ll be locked away with the rest of the traitors, released as and when I want you and only then. If you come of your own accord, I will spare everyone and grant you your freedom anywhere within the pack compound. The clock is ticking.”
I looked around at everyone, seeing the desperation in my mother’s eyes, my dad’s pride as he resigned himself to his fate, Logan kicking his legs as Khaos raised him above his head, slowly strangling him to death.
There wasn’t a choice.
My mother had schooled me well on my duty to this pack. I couldn’t let our entire leadership die tonight. It wasn’t the duty I had been expecting to undertake, but yet, here I was.
My mother’s reputation could withstand this. I wasn’t willingly leaving. I was being taken. Abducted.
She would be safe. There could be no retribution for this, it wasn’t her fault.
“Fifteen seconds, little one. If your lover can hold out that long...”
“Fine!” I shot out. “Fine! I’ll come with you, just spare my family!” He threw Logan away from him, sending him flying into the wall at least five feet away. He snapped his fingers together once more and walked towards me. Before I could react, I was thrown over his shoulder and he marched me away from my family without so much as a goodbye, his soldiers staying behind to carry out whatever orders they were left with to finish things off.
He opened the door of the waiting car and roughly shoved me into the passenger seat before he walked round to the driver’s side and shot off down the road.
“You arsehole!” I screamed at him. “You didn’t even let me say goodbye!” He just shrugged his shoulders.
“It’s not important.”
“Not important?! They’re my family! My friends! I love them!” He slammed on the breaks, sending me flying into the dashboard. He reached out to roughly snatch my chin and forced me to look at him.
“Love?” He growled, and for the first time, I was genuinely scared of what he might do to me. “Do not, ever, speak to me of love. I’m your fucking mate and after leaving you for one afternoon, I come back to find you reeking of another fucking man. I can smell his disgusting seed on your breath. I swear, Violet, if I catch his scent anywhere else on your body tonight, I will not be responsible for my actions.” I pushed his hand away, slightly surprised at how easily he let me go. I was breathing hard as he calmly started the car again.
“You disgust me, you know that? I think I made my rejection of you clear this afternoon. I’m free to fuck whoever I want!”
“Don’t push me, Violet, I’m warning you.”
“I’m not scared of you.”
“You should be.”
I scoffed, “you’re nothing without your henchmen, Khaos.” He just laughed at me.
“You and I both know that’s not true sweet cheeks. Now tell me what I have to do to get you to be quiet for five minutes whilst I remember the directions out of here?” I crossed my arms and turned my body away from him. He laughed again.
“I’m looking forward to our first night together more and more every minute. Your pathetic show of defiance won’t last long.”
“Fuck you!”
“That’s the plan.”
“You’re disgusting. I won’t be sleeping with you tonight or any other night.”
“I didn’t say we would be sleeping,” I didn’t even bother responding to that.
“You look extremely sweet in your dress. What was the occasion?” I looked at him with a sickly-sweet smile.
“Oh, this old thing? We had it made for my special ball – surely you’ve heard about it? It’s been all anyone can talk about recently! Why did you think I ran away from you this afternoon? I had a dress appointment. After all, this is what I would have been wearing when I announced Logan as my choice mate.” His knuckles turned white as he gripped the steering wheel. I kept pushing my luck. “Logan knew this
