Two Alive, стр. 107
Antonio scoffed and threw his hands at him, “Whatever. You didn’t run off no hive.”
“Uh-huh!”
“It probably wasn’t even that many!”
“Uh-huh!” Miles shoved Antonio and his brother shoved him back. They play-fighted for a bit but Miles got the last lick and Antonio let him slip away. “How’d you get away?” Miles asked, trying to keep his distance.
Antonio paused then smiled and said, “They just let me out that thang. After I got my cut, I was like, bruh I’m gone. And they was like, ‘what you mean?’ I was like, I’m gone bruh.” Antonio held his arms at his side, flexing and grabbing his crotch as he talked, “Then I said, and give me all that shit you said you was gon give me and my brother before it get crazy. Then they gave all that shit up and I dipped. And I got some new clothes for us and a pair of J’s for me.”
Miles was flabbergasted and tried to do a cartwheel but failed. After his tumble to the ground he looked around from where Antonio had come. “I don’t see any stuff.”
Antonio smiled again. The two boys went and found Castle, still trapped in the snare and killed the infected thing that was Castle before checking him and taking his weapons. Then the boys went off and found Miles’ bike where he left it; not far from where Burrows and Lance died. They took the guns Burrows had and checked the bodies for gear and supplies. Then the boys rode one bike down the road and Miles pointed to what remained of Clint, ruined on the side of the street. The only reason Miles knew the body was Clint’s because of the eyepatch still hanging from the mutilated face. They took his revolver and pedaled on.
Then they came across the hidden stash of shopping carts filled with pastries and goodies. Miles exploded with joy and jumped around a bit, cheering and claiming Antonio must’ve checked the cabinets and found the treasure of sweets. Antonio told his brother to push the carts since it was his idea to go to the Costco in the first place and since he was still the map for the day. Miles groaned and complained and whined but pushed the carts anyway; still feeling good about everything he accomplished. While Antonio rolled ahead of him, drifting back and forth, Miles pushed the shopping carts down the highway, proud of their haul. Then he heard rustling in the distance and he turned to look and saw a deer strolling peacefully.
The small boy pulled his rifle around and dropped to one knee and lined up a shot. Don’t be greedy. Miles heard in his ears and he lowered his gun. He stood up and pulled out his phone, still with 94% life. He smiled and scrolled through his lists of songs and stopped on one.
