Star Gods, стр. 38

twin connection is weird, almost creepy. It makes me uncomfortable sometimes.”

I nod. “I can honestly say I know what you mean.”

She twists and untwists the cap on her bottle. “It’s also why I know you’re keeping something from me, something from your last message.”

I halt my pencil above the page.

I feel a wave of emotion come from her. “I know it’s something to do with me.”

I shade in the bridge of her nose contemplating how much I should tell her.

She tosses bits of fuzz onto my carpet and gets to her feet. “I have a right to know, Zeke, especially when what you’re shown involves me.”

She starts to leave and I set my pencil down. “Wait.” I sigh heavily and inwardly cringe. “Levi threw a message at me showing me your dead body.”

Her head turns slowly toward me, her expression turning to alarm.

“And, I’m positive I obtained one of Levi’s abilities when I took his staff. He wants it back.”

“Your barriers never left your hands.”

“Exactly.”

“You threw those two with your mind.”

“Yeah.”

“Shit.”

“That’s putting it mildly.”

She retraces her steps, dragging her fingers through her bangs, while retaking her seat across from me. “What does all this mean?”

I shrug. “I wish I knew.”

As if on cue, my bedroom door shoves open.

“What does all what mean?” Tyce asks, sitting next to me and stretching out his legs.

Ashe grabs my desk chair and straddles it. “While you two are thinking about how to answer Tyce’s question, why don’t you answer mine first. Which of you two has the ability to throw someone with only a look?”

Sage starts picking at the carpet again. “That would be telekinesis.” She grimaces. “Zeke?”

I set my sketchpad on the floor, resting my pencil on top.

“Is that an answer or a question?” Ashe asks.

“Neither,” Sage responds.

“You threw me in the living room, Zeke,” Ashe states. “I didn’t remember until I saw you throw the two Assassins.” He looks between us. “Is it Sage’s ability and you borrowed it?”

I shoot an annoyed look at my sister. “It’s Levi’s.”

“What do you mean its Levi’s?” Ashe questions, looking stunned.

“When I took his staff I felt something, I didn’t know what. I didn’t connect the dots either until I threw those two Assassins. Levi wants his ability back.”

“You took his ability?” Ashe asks.

“Apparently.”

“Son of a bitch,” Tyce exclaims sounding perturbed. “You can keep it?”

I shrug. “I think so.”

“It’s your ability now?” Tyce asks.

I shrug again.

“What exactly does this mean?” Ashe asks.

“Exactly the words we walked in on,” Tyce murmurs.

“The way it’s sounding, Zeke may very well be omnipotent,” Abby says from the doorway. She joins Ashe, placing her arm around his shoulders and leaning into him.

“Seriously?” Sage exclaims excitedly, and Abby nods.

“What does omnipotent mean?” I ask.

“That makes sense,” Ashe states as if I didn’t say anything. “That makes a hell of a lot of sense.”

“Okay, this is so not fair,” Tyce complains, shoving me. “Why is he getting all the cool stuff?”

I shove him back. “First of all, I didn’t ask for this, and second, this would make a lot more sense to me if someone would tell me what the hell omnipotent means.”

“Don’t get pissy,” Sage replies. “Omnipotent means to have unlimited power.”

“In your case,” Abby adds. “It may mean the ability to have unlimited power by taking others abilities and using as your own.”

That’s why I can store abilities inside me. This means I can…

“No,” Ashe says interrupting my next thought. He sets my chair back at my desk. “I can see your wheels turning, Zeke, and you will not, under any circumstances, go after Levi alone.”

“Don’t you see? I’m the only one who can.”

“Nu-uh,” Sage expresses. “We’re twins. I can use anything you have.”

I shake my head, grabbing up my sketchpad and pencil, and getting to my feet. “You’re just learning, Sage. You don’t know how to use what you have well enough.”

She lifts a hand and I feel a pull on my barrier.

I point a finger at her. “Don’t, Sage, you could blow me through a wall.”

“That could be kinda fun.”

“Don’t. Remember what you did to me downstairs?”

“That was by mistake, this would be intentional.” She smirks. “Swear you won’t go after Levi on your own.”

Tyce moves quickly to stand in the doorway.

I gnash my teeth. “That’s not fair.”

“Yes, it is.” Sage gets to her feet, her hand still raised to me. “You’re thinking you have to do this on your own and you’re wrong.”

“What’s going on?” Claire asks, appearing in the doorway and pressing next to Tyce.

“Nothing much,” Tyce responds, leaning against the doorframe. “Zeke may be omnipotent and is thinking he’s going after Levi on his own, and Sage is threatening to blow him through the wall.”

“She can do that?”

“You totally ignored the part about Zeke being omnipotent.”

“Zeke having unlimited power is already a given,” Claire responds, tucking mahogany hair behind an ear. “Can Sage blow Zeke through a wall?”

“Zeke took one of Levi’s abilities and Sage can use whatever he has, so, yeah, she can.”

“Oh. Are you going to let her?”

“If Zeke doesn’t agree to not go after Levi, yeah, I might.”

My sister smirks at me and pulls more.

“Thanks, Tyce, for your ever-so-thoughtful help.” I point at my sister. “Sage, you’re going to blow me clear through the house if you keep pulling.”

“Swear you won’t go after Levi alone and I’ll stop.”

I drop my sketchpad and pencil where my mattress used to be and fling my arms wide. “I can’t do that. Go ahead, take your best shot.”

“Enough, Sage.” Ashe grabs one of her hands. “You don’t have enough control yet and we’re going to need Zeke. Let it go.”

“Dammit,” she mutters under her breath while breaking the connection.

He looks authoritatively at me. “As head of household, I’m ordering you not to do anything without all of us with you.”

I scoff. “Wow, you’re ordering me now?”

He presses his lips together, his cheeks reddening. “You know what, you want to go off after Levi, go ahead. I’m not going to stop you. But let me remind you that
