in my old section. Let me know when you’re done.

Text to Cross - I left you a present in your locker :)

Text from Rick - Okay. I’ll find you.

Text from Cross - I hope it’s sweet and baked! Thanks!

Something about my seat always seems right, it welcomes me. I miss my view of the field. I sit field level, but I’m up about halfway and it gives me a view of almost the whole field. The field is a beautiful thing, green, fresh, and perfectly manicured. I can hear the bats connecting with the pitches, the hum of the crowd, the peanut vendor wandering through. In reality, the field is empty other than a few guys playing catch and running around the field like a track. It simply makes me happy. This is the perfect place to work. I open my laptop and work on updating my social media. I add some new photos, update travel specials, and post a picture of my current view to Instagram asking who’s interested in a stadium vacation. I check my email and reply to the customers I’m working with. I review my customer’s social media accounts for travel posts and photos, anything I might be able to use or comment on for exposure. I prepare an email about planning for winter trips to Hawaii with the suggestion to book early for better rates and give yourself something to look forward to, and send it out to my customer base. I tweet about a stadium vacation using #baseball #SanDiegoSeals #vacation, thinking my fellow fans who follow me might be interested. I review the vacation plans I started for Rick and I, updating them with the best prices, and getting everything set. It makes me excited just thinking about it. I can’t wait to spend two weeks in Hawaii with my Rick.

I change gears and review my budget, as well as the away games coming up and check airfare for Chicago and Seattle. As I review the schedule I’m reminded the trade deadline is almost here and it hits me, they brought up the new hot catcher. Rick doesn’t want to get traded and the way they’ve been trading, nobody’s safe. I check for the lineup, but it’s too early. We’ll definitely be watching the game tonight.

Rick sits down next to me. “I see why you like it here. I never see the field like this. It’s gorgeous.” Spoken like a true baseball fan. “Plus, it’s foul ball territory, the seats are angled toward the field perfectly and you’ve got a clear view.”

“I’ve been sitting in this seat for years. I’ve never changed. Great view of all the action, total fan section and close to my favorite concessions.” I stop abruptly. I may have just had a DOTM moment and I need to make up for it. “But, I love sitting behind home plate. I’ve been cheering for you for years from out here and you didn’t even know it. Now you have no doubt when I cheer for you, I’m closer to you, and I have an awesome view of your ass!” I laugh hysterically because I’m so funny, well at least I think I’m funny.

Rick shakes his head, “My queen, everybody knows when you cheer for me and I love it. It’s better than when the whole stadium goes crazy over a home run or even a grand slam. I don’t have to be great for you to cheer for me. You cheer for me before I do anything and get me pumped up, and when I do something great you’re louder than everybody else. I can always hear you and it feeds my ego every time.” Rick leans over and kisses me sweetly, “I didn’t know what I was missing.”

I notice he’s not wearing the sling, “How’s your elbow?”

“I’m okay. I need to pay attention for any pain, otherwise I should be able to play after my suspension.” He puts both arms around me and kisses me silly, showing me he’s fine.

I still feel guilty about his suspension. But, I do get him to myself for the rest of his suspension.

I put my work away and hand Rick his keys. We walk out to the garage and Rick gets in the driver’s seat. I slide in the passenger side and scoot over next to Rick, so I can lean against him and rest my hand on his thigh. It’s what he likes me to do and wants me to do, it’s not just me.

We stop at the Yolk for brunch on the way home and I take the opportunity to handle business, considering I can’t concentrate when we get home and will most likely end up naked. “Can we talk about some roommate things over lunch?”

Rick glares at me like I’m crazy, “Roommate?”

Bad choice of words, “Let me try again. Can we discuss a few things? I want to have a plan when it comes to money and traveling.” I’m not sure that was any better.

“I told you, I’ll pay for everything. Don’t worry about it.”

“That’s what we need to talk about. I don’t work like that.” I’m struck with a vision of the future and suddenly I know in the future it’ll be different. We’re partners and it won’t be like he’s paying for everything. It might not be that bad to be taken care of. “I mean right now. I know it could be different in the future.”

“Okay.” We find a table at the Yolk and sit down on the same side of the table as always. He puts his arm around me and we order our usual. “What’s on the agenda?”

I turn and glare at him because he’s picking on me for planning. “Traveling for away games and household expenses. I understand that you have enough money to pay for everything and want to cover it. I appreciate that you want to do that for me, but it’ll make me feel like I have to answer to you about
