Feeding Her, стр. 55
“To protect you.”
“And you came to me and Gray that night and—”
“To warn you,” Landon interrupted. “Are you seeing a pattern here yet, Kait? That everything I’ve done, I’ve done for you?”
“I do now—I didn’t then.” The tears were spilling faster and faster down her cheeks now. She had no idea what he was thinking, his face was still like granite. For a minute, pride held her back, but then she stepped forward again. “Because you love me.”
When he didn’t respond, she rose up on tiptoes and kissed him. It was like kissing a statue. She rocked back on her heels and looked up at him. “At least, you did,” she said hopelessly. “Did I ruin it, Landon?”
“Damnit, Kait.” Suddenly his arms were around her, dragging her back to him. “You have trust issues, you know that?”
His grip was punishingly tight. Kait nodded, her eyes wide.
“And I get it. You’re entitled to it. But now I need you to look at the evidence. I’ve been in New Canton for months now for you. I went back to the kitchen for you. I ruined a man’s business for you. And I nearly died for you. The least you can do for me is stop doubting that I love you.”
The words were angry, but Kait buried her head in his chest and smiled through her tears. Then she reached up and began unbuttoning his shirt.
“What are you doing?” Landon asked, going very still.
Kait kissed his exposed chest. “You’re right,” she said between kisses. “You’ve shown me you love me, now let me show you I love you.”
“If you think that sex is all it takes—” he started warningly, then stopped suddenly when she dropped to her knees in front of him.
“I love you,” she whispered, unzipping his pants and looking up at him as she freed his hardening member.
“A blowjob isn’t—” he choked off as her mouth closed around him, and his hands fisted in her ponytail. “Christ, Kait.”
The feel of Kait’s hot mouth wiped Landon’s mind blissfully clean of thought. For a few minutes, he let himself drift on the waves of ecstasy that spread through his entire body like a narcotic. Then, he abruptly freed himself and sank to his knees in front of her.
Kait blinked hazily at him. “What’s wrong?”
“Nothing. Except if you don’t stop, I’m not going to have time to get you in my bed.”
Kait’s eyes turned more smoke than blue, and when he pulled her into him, she pushed him down onto the rug. “For a man who was just in a wheelchair, you’re awfully ambitious.”
“You should see what I can do on crutches,” he gasped as she pulled off her jeans and straddled him.
“Be quiet, patient,” Kait said, wriggling out of her shirt. Landon’s hands crept up her slim back to unsnap her bra, but she batted them away and did it herself. “You are on bed rest,” she said.
“They’re just first degree burns,” Landon gasped.
Kait covered his mouth with her hand, taking care not to press too hard against the reddened skin, and lowered herself onto him, letting him fill her completely. Landon moaned and reached up to cup her breasts as she began rocking, taking him deeper.
“Tell me,” he gritted out.
“I love you,” Kait gasped, waves of pleasure that originated from where they joined were spreading through her entire body.
When Landon wrapped one powerful arm around her waist and began thrusting up into her, she gave up trying to keep her head above water and sunk into the pleasure. “I love you,” she gasped over and over again before she climaxed.
Landon saw the moment it hit, saw her eyes go blank with pleasure and her whole body go limp around him. He gave her a moment and then began again.
“Your turn,” Kait whispered, clenching her thighs around him.
“Oh, I know,” he gasped, nearly there.
“No, I mean it’s your turn to say it.”
“I love you, Kait. I’ve always loved you.”
And with that, he released inside of her and then they both collapsed into each other.
Epilogue
“So what happens now?” Kaitlyn wondered aloud. They were still tangled on his floor, naked. The nurse had nearly walked in on them, but Landon had barked at her to get out just in time.
“We recover,” Landon said. His chest felt like someone had mistaken it for a drum kit.
“No, I mean, what are we going to do now? Do we stay in New Canton? Do we go back to New York?”
“What do you want to do?” Landon spun a long lock of her hair around his finger idly and looked down at the top of her head.
“It’s hard,” Kaitlyn considered. “James Investments is in New York, but LeClarks is here. I never really saw myself staying in New Canton, though.”
“No, me either,” Landon agreed. “But if you want to stay here, I can work from here and commute to the city.”
Kait pictured it and shook her head. “No, I love Gray, and I love LeClarks, but—wait.” She twisted and looked up at Landon, her eyes wide and sad. “I guess LeClarks isn’t a factor anymore. Marjorie said the building couldn’t be saved.”
“Not that building, no,” Landon agreed. “But I already talked to my lawyers about a new location. They’ll get in touch with Gray tomorrow.”
Kait sighed, “I can’t believe we have to start all over again.”
“It’s not a total restart,” Landon assured her. “You’ll have to take down a tacky neon sign and get a fountain fixed, but otherwise, it’s a nice place.”
“Rathskeller?” Kait gasped. “You’re turning Rathskeller back into LeClarks?”
Landon shrugged. “Business hasn’t been great since LeClarks opened anyway. I think the town has spoken.”
“It’s the flagship restaurant though.”
“It’s LeClarks. It was always LeClarks.”
Kait buried her face in the side of his chest to hide her tears, but it was too late. Landon dug his fingers into her waist, teasingly. “You’re going to have to stop that. Good things are going to start happening, and
