throats.”

“And the two in the barn?”

“Shot them,” they said.

“You police your brass?”

“Yes, sir.”

“Good job,” KJ told them as he continued to look at them with a look of disbelief. “You learn all this shit in the Army? If you did, then we need to send fucking Nickel, Prez.”

“No, sir.”

He looked a little confused at that. “Where the hell did you learn it then?”

Both boys looked at Viper, who was sitting calmly watching his sons be questioned.

“You weren't fucking joking about him were you, Prez?” KJ muttered.

“Nope, told you so.”

“You've been fucking waiting to say that to me for the past thirty minutes haven't you?” he growled at me. I just laughed at him.

“Well Viper, gotta say, you've raised a couple of really good men. Y'all try to rub off on Nickel, would you? That boy seriously has a screw loose, blaming it on his mother. But I still love the little shit.”

His eyes narrowed at Viper, then he asked, “Reb and Pred are yours, right?”

Viper inclined his head.

“And you said both your Old Ladies are pregnant.”

“Yeah.”

I could tell KJ was clearly confused, I hadn't thought to tell him about Viper and his Old Ladies situation.

“So how many fucking Old Ladies have you had?”

“Just two.”

He looked at Reb and Pred who were quietly snickering.

“Let me help you out, Brother,” I said. “Because I can see it's not adding up for you. Viper's Old Lady, Mia, is Pred's mother. She's pregnant with twins. His other Old Lady, Jennie, is Rebel's mother. She's pregnant with twins as well.”

KJ coughed and exclaimed, “You're fucking bullshitting me, aren't you?”

We all shook our heads.

“I forgot Nickel said something about Viper having two Old Ladies. Oh fuck, he also told me he wanted to be you when he grew up. Thanks for that, Brother. He doesn't fucking want to be like his dad, but a man who has two Old Ladies. I don't know how you do it, I couldn't even manage one,” he said as a pained expression crossed his face.

“I take it the divorce didn't go well?” I asked him.

“Well, I had to beggar myself, but I fucking got to keep the kids with me.”

“If you need anything, Brother, and I mean anything, you don't hesitate to ask, got me? There's no reason to struggle when you have a family backing you.”

“I hear you, Dog.”

“Mean it, you hardheaded asshole.”

KJ sighed, “Yeah, Dog. I know you do, but you know me. That being said, if it gets to where I think I need help, I will ask.”

“Good. Can't ask for more than that,” I replied to him.

I glanced at Reb and Pred. I could tell they were both nervous as hell.

Rebel cleared his throat, “Sir,” he said to KJ. “What's going to happen to us?”

“What the fuck you mean?” KJ asked.

“Well, you are the law and we just confessed to killing eight men.”

“If I had my way, I'd give you a fucking medal, but this needs to be kept on the down low. Dog, we need to figure out where that barn is.”

“Been thinking about that, KJ, I’m pretty sure Noah would know where it might be,” I said as I picked up my phone and called Axel.

“Yeah, Prez?”

“Noah in the Great Room?”

“Yes, sir.”

“Send him back to my office.”

“Will do.”

We waited until there was a knock on the door. “Come in,” I called out loudly.

Noah opened the door and hesitantly stuck his head around it. I saw that he looked for Karma and when he didn't see him, he looked a little nervous.

“Come on in, son,” I said. “You're not in any trouble, we just need to ask you a few questions, okay?”

He nodded and came into the office.

“Go ahead and take a seat,” I said, then watched as he sat down close to Reb and Pred. Even though he knew KJ and me, I guess they made him feel safe since they had protected him and his sister earlier.

“Noah,” KJ said, “can you remember where the barn is?”

“Yes, sir. It's down Squirrel Hollow Road.”

I could see KJ was thinking like I was, each of us trying to picture where this barn might be.

He looked at Pred and asked, “How far do you think you went down that road?”

“Fuck, not sure. I was too busy trying to stay focused on that van. I knew I couldn't let it out of my sight.”

Reb spoke up, “It fucking seemed like forever, but I would say about ten to twelve miles.”

KJ nodded, “Okay, I think I know where you are talking about.” Then he turned back to Noah and asked, “Noah, do you know why your mom wasn't letting you visit your dad?”

Noah bobbed his head vigorously, “Yeah, I was with her one day when she bought some drugs. She didn't realize I could see her until I asked her about it when she got back in the car. I told her I was telling Dad, and she started yelling at me and said that I wouldn't be allowed to see Dad again or talk to him.

“Mom took away Zoey’s phone so we couldn’t call Dad, I tried to get Chloe to let me use her phone, but she told me no. She knows I’ve seen her doing drugs with Mom and is afraid that I’ll tell Dad.

“It's all my fault Zoey's hurt, if I'd only used someone else's phone and let Dad know, he would have come then to get us. I'm sorry.” Then the poor kid burst out crying.

Rebel reached out, picked him up and sat him in his lap, hugging him close to him.

“Shhh,” we all heard him whisper. “It's not your fault, Noah. It's your mom's fault for trying to keep you away from your dad. Don't put the blame on yourself.” Then he started rocking Noah as he held him tight.

“Noah,” KJ spoke up. “Reb is right. This is not your fault. You got me? A ten-year-old isn't supposed to have to deal with this type of shit.”

A knock sounded on the door, “Hold
