we need to think about any possible blow back if it's even hinted that we were involved.” I threw out there, playing devil's advocate.

“One thing. I think we need that little girl to move into the Clubhouse. I don't think she needs to go out and take a chance on being seen anywhere,” Cueball remarked.

Thank God someone else brought that up. I had already been thinking that but didn't want anyone to think I just wanted her close to me if I suggested that. Especially after her comment of me being her biker hero. Fuck, that felt good inside, I guess I did help her out after all.

“Agreed,” Tater said, as others murmured their support to Cueball's suggestion.

“She may not want to do that. She strikes me as being pretty independent,” Blood threw out there.

I shrugged my shoulders, “We'll make that as part of the condition of helping her out.”

“Pretty sure that would work,” he replied.

Seer spoke up, “I think we need to get KJ here and see what he thinks before we decide on what we should do. Most of the things we've done have been stuff he needed done that he couldn't legally get away with.”

I inclined my head at him.

“Okay, we'll do that. However, Doom, I want you to dig into the bastard and the law firm and see what you can find out. The more we know about him and the firm, the better. I'll talk to KJ and see when I can get him here.”

“Would like to be in on that meeting, Prez,” Slaughter said.

“As would I,” Trooper commented.

“Me too,” Ranger spoke up.

I raised my hands up to stop the comments. “I hear you fuckers. If you all want to be there, I'll call Church. But you all need to be prepared for this to take place in the middle of the damn night, you realize that right? He’s been so busy lately, you all know he hasn’t even been able to make it to Church the last few months.”

Every head nodded affirmative to me.

“So be it. Alright, go on out and get you a drink. I'll go talk to Ava.”

Chapter 7

It is not sex that gives the pleasure, but the lover.

Mad Dog

I had mixed emotions about what I was about to tell Ava. There was something about her that woke up every damn nerve cell in my body. I liked what I was seeing when I looked at her, my damn cock definitely liked her sexy as sin body. She was completely different from Beth in her appearance, but hell, she didn't look anything like she did seven years ago either. Back then, she had the same sweet look to her that Beth had.

Fuck, maybe it was a good thing that her look was totally different. Because there was no way I could ever get her confused in my mind with Beth. Damn, here I was thinking about her sexually when all she wanted from me was help with vengeance and justice, talk about putting the cart before the horse. But my cock didn't feel the same way, as soon as my gaze landed on her, he started getting real happy. God. Damn. I sure didn’t need to approach her rocking a fucking hard on.

Creed and Brick were talking to her and she was smiling at them, but I could tell she was anxious. She was pulling the paper off the beer bottle and had a little pile of it in front of her. Looked like she'd already had more than one, I couldn't blame her though. This had to be nerve wracking for her, to be so close to help and not knowing if you were going to get it or not. I made my way over to her and sat on a barstool beside her.

“Brick, could you grab me a beer?” I asked as I spun my seat a little to look at Ava.

“Sure thing, Prez.”

After he handed me the beer, he and Creed walked toward the other end of the bar, letting me have some privacy with Ava. She spun around and looked at me. I saw hope, fear, and despair float across her face. I knew how she was feeling, and it was one of the hardest things to do, wait for a chance for justice. How she had managed to wait seven years, I'll never know.

“We're gonna help you,” I started off and she wrapped her arms around herself as relief hit her. “But we have some conditions.”

She nodded, “Anything, just tell me what it is.”

“Don't be too quick to say that until you hear what we want. And we could add to this at any time, Ava. It's for your safety and ours as well.”

“Okay, Prez.”

“First off, non-negotiable, if you can't agree to this, we can't help you.” I watched her gulp nervously. “You have to move into the Clubhouse, and for the time being you'll have to quit work at the bar.”

I saw her start to argue, then she bit her bottom lip. Fuck, I wished she hadn't done that. All it made me want to do was lean forward and suck her lower lip into my mouth and let my teeth rake across it. I shifted uncomfortably.

“Can I ask why?”

“Yeah, darlin', you can. For one thing, you did real good when you kept yourself away from anyone you knew. That kept you out of the public eye, so you shouldn't ever be looked at when this fucker ends up dead. But, we don't know who he told about what your husband overheard.”

She nodded at me.

“And if you're here, we can keep you safe and no one would see you here but Brothers, their women and families, plus the club girls. And no one on the compound would ever say a word that you are staying here. I'll make sure of that.”

As I mentioned the club girls, I watched as her gaze went around the room. Fuck, of course Cotton would
